THE PERFECTLY IMPERFECT HOME by Deborah Needleman

THE PERFECTLY IMPERFECT HOME by Deborah Needleman illustrations by Virginia Johnson

I found this book at the library today and I’m totally in L O V E with it! I haven’t started reading it yet just looking through it at the wonderful illustrations by Virginia Johnson. Wow! Totally inspiring! Plus she also has a line of textiles.

So, if you get a chance, take a look. You’ll love it!

Brushing Off Some Old Tools

I’ve had these since about 1995…when I was studying graphic design. I didn’t really use them very much at that time. I was too busy trying to master Adobe Photoshop, Aldus Freehand (Which turned into Macromedia Freehand and is now Adobe Illustrator), QuarkXpress, etc.

I really wanted to be a fashion illustrator, but at that time it was all about photography and really the thought was that fashion illustration would become extinct. Now I certainly wish I would have just kept doing what I loved instead of listening to the “experts”. A lesson for us all! :)

Millinery home school

Just a few books I’m going to be using to teach myself millinery.

I’m starting with Classic Millinery Techniques by Ann Albrizio. This looks like a good place for me to start because the hats are sewn. I’ll need to invest in some millinery hat blocks for the others.

What looks like another great book is From the Neck Up. Tons of information here.

New projects…New blog

Hello!

Welcome to my blog.

My name is Heather and I love to make things. This is actually a new adventure to me. I have been busy painting and making art quilts, but I have grown a bit static with those pursuits. So, I’m going to be teaching myself fashion illustration and millinery.

So, please stop by. Let me know what you think and share what you know!
